Susie joined Pekarsky & Co. as a Principal in 2016. She brings a diverse background in the recruitment, healthcare and professional services industries. Susie draws from her past experiences as an entrepreneur, Chartered Accountant and Registered Nurse to bring both technical and business understanding to each client engagement.
As a CA herself, Susie naturally leads the majority of Pekarsky & Co.’s senior level finance and accounting searches. Over the past few years, she has also enjoyed leading the annual Board recruitment for a number of vital not-for-profit organizations serving diverse communities across Calgary. Susie is known to her clients and candidates for her dedicated professionalism, business acumen and expertise in matching talent to client needs.
After many years spent at home raising her children, Susie reentered the workforce in 2012. With her genuine interest in peoples’ personal stories, customer service focus and drive to succeed, recruitment appeared to be a natural fit. Prior to joining Pekarsky & Co., Susie worked as a Search Manager with a national search and consulting firm where she specialized in placing finance and accounting leaders.
Before transitioning to a career in executive search, Susie embarked on the life learning adventure of building her own business from the ground up. After much blood, sweat and tears, Core Fitness evolved from an empty commercial space to an energized fitness center. Susie’s experience owning and managing Core Fitness gave her a whole new appreciation for small business success. After two years, and with two small children at home and one on the way, Susie sold Core Fitness to focus on raising her young family.
Susie holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary and a Nursing Diploma from the University of Alberta Hospital School of Nursing. After completing her Business degree, Susie worked with KPMG Calgary where she obtained her Chartered Accountant designation.
When not at work, Susie can be found at her other full-time job as Mom to her four teenage children. In her free time, Susie enjoys reading, cooking, interior design and spending time with good friends.
