MONTREAL – In a final bid to convince Canada’s National Energy Board of the merits of its Line 9 pipeline reversal project, Enbridge Inc. played up the economic benefits while insisting criticism of the plan by certain parties has been nothing short of “irresponsible.”
NEB hearings on the project began Tuesday in Montreal with Enbridge’s final arguments. Chief among them: That the plan to reverse the flow of an existing 639-kilometre oil pipeline between Sarnia, Ont. and Montreal while boosting its capacity 25% to 300,000 barrels per day is something the market is demanding.
