Calgary Airport Authority – Director, Finance & Controller (WR: 421)

Our client, The Calgary Airport Authority (the “Authority”) is a private, non-share capital, not-for-profit Corporation, incorporated under the Province of Alberta’s Regional Airports Authorities Act. The Authority is responsible for the management, operation and development of the Calgary International Airport (“YYC”) and Springbank Airport (“YBW”).

With the Authority’s new strategic plan and new vision, the company is going through a major transformational change, and their finance and accounting team has an exciting opportunity to help pave the way. This new role, Director Finance & Controller, will be part of the senior leadership team, joining one of the most successful airports in Canada and an iconic organization in western Canada.

Reporting to the VP Finance & CFO, the Director, Finance & Controller will be a senior leader at the Airport providing financial leadership through proactive, transparent, accountable, cost effective and service-oriented support to internal and external customers.

The primary focus will be providing timely and accurate accounting services, provide decision support to all areas of the business, and to ensure accuracy of the financial planning and forecasting process. YYC’s finance and accounting team continues to look for innovative and new ways to maximize efficiency and provide an excellent level of service to their internal and external customers.

We are seeking a results driven, proven customer and team centric financial business leader who is interested in collaboratively contributing to a strong senior leadership and who can champion the accounting services and financial planning and analysis functions at YYC. The successful candidate will hold: a post-secondary degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting with a professional accounting designation and/or MBA; a minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial planning, forecasting and budgeting with at least five-10 years’ experience as a Controller (preferably at a public company); and the proven leadership skills to attract, lead, motivate and develop a high-performing customer service-oriented team.
