Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association, Board Members (WR: 511)
We are actively seeking new Board members for the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA), a respected settlement agency that recognizes, responds to, and focuses on the unique concerns and needs of immigrant and refugee women, girls, and their families. Over the years, CIWA have continually responded to emerging needs of immigrant women and girls, developed innovative programs, established meaningful partnerships, and have come to be recognized as a provincial and national leader in outcome-based gender-specific settlement services. To learn more about CIWA, see their website, www.ciwa-online.com.
CIWA’s Board plays a governance role in supporting the strategic vision of CIWA. As volunteers, Board members commit to approximately five to ten hours per month on Board related activities, including preparation for and participation in Board and Committee meetings and participation in community events. CIWA seeks to develop a Board whose members possess and demonstrate a diverse combination of personal attributes, expertise, social capital, professional competencies and occupational background.
For our 2020 Board recruitment, we are specifically seeking individuals with professional experience in strategic planning, governance, commercial real estate, legal and finance and insurance/risk management. Previous Board experience in the private or not-for-profit sector is also desired for the role.
If you are committed to playing a leadership role in Calgary’s immigrant serving sector and possess the desired experience, please consider a nomination. Contact Ranju Shergill at [email protected] for more details on this opportunity.
