The Calgary Chamber of Commerce (“the Chamber”) has been the city’s main connector of people, ideas, and stories since 1891 and exists to help make the Calgary business community more successful. Over its 126 year history, the Chamber has grown and evolved to better serve our great city. With over 1600 member businesses consisting over 400,000 employees, connecting thousands of business leaders from a variety of industries and company sizes, the Chamber has helped businesses overcome some of their toughest challenges and strives to keep Calgarians on top of the latest business and political trends. It also acts on behalf of the business community in advocating all levels of government to implement the policies needed to make sure Calgary remains a great place to do business.

The Chamber is now seeking its next Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) to build on a period of extensive modernization, which has positioned the organization as a leader in the space nationally and internationally. This is an exciting, dynamic and demanding role which is responsible for continuing the forward-thinking required to ensure the Chamber remains at the leading edge of a rapidly changing business environment and a challenging political landscape. As such we are seeking a creative, visionary leader with the ability to innovate and bring fresh ideas to market. Ultimately the CEO is accountable to its members and will need to build upon the Chamber’s existing services and find new ways to drive value to that membership.

The ideal candidate would bring 10+ years experience in the for-profit or not-for-profit sectors, with exceptional business acumen and a track record leading successful, even disruptive, organizations. It is essential that this individual brings the vision and entrepreneurial drive required to grow and lead an organization with all the attendant ambiguity that comes with such an undertaking. Given the diverse nature of stakeholder base, strong advocacy, public relations, and communications skills are highly desired, as well as sound financial management and governance experience. Excellent organizational development and leadership ability, with a team mentality, is also crucial for success in this role.
