The City of Calgary is currently recruiting for volunteer Public Members for the Calgary Police Commission.
The Calgary Police Commission’s mandate is to provide independent civilian oversight and governance of the Calgary Police Service to ensure a safe community. The Calgary Police Commission monitors and oversees the public complaint process; establishes policies for efficient and effective policing; advocatesfor legislative changes that allow the police service to improve safety and serve the community; analyzes the budget allocated by City Council to ensure that Calgary Police Service has the resources it needs.
Eligibility and Skills
Resident of Calgary
At least 18 years of age
Legal expertise, with an understanding of administrative law and the hearing process
Experience serving on a high-level corporate or public board of directors
Proven track record as a senior leader or administrator in an organization
