Our client is Saskatchewan’s number one overseas exporter (by revenue). Our client’s world class logistics and marketing capabilities contributes to its competitive advantage. As a vital link in pursuit of global food security, our client sources potash from mines located throughout Saskatchewan and responsibly sells and delivers its product to approximately 120 customers in 40 overseas countries. With a fleet of over 5,000 rail cars, three specialized port terminal facilities in British Columbia, Oregon and New Brunswick, and 15 ocean vessels under long term charter, our client reliably ships approximately 12 million tonnes of potash, Canada’s largest mineral export, to its export markets annually.

Our client has historically been one of the largest and earliest exporters to some key markets for Canada including Brazil, China, Malaysia, and Indonesia and is a top five Canadian exporter to 13 other countries across the globe.

Based in Saskatoon and reporting to the Vice President, Strategy and Sales Administration, the Director, Credit is responsible for leading all credit and risk management functions within the organization to ensure the financial security of sales. This position is responsible for leading and managing a team of two Credit Analysts and ensuring the credit process facilitates the company’s sales and strategic plan while enhancing the company’s processes and controls around risk.

The Director, Credit is responsible for critically assessing strategy and driving all sales credit and risk initiatives for the organization including developing and improving policies and procedures, measuring and analyzing various risks, assisting in the development of risk mitigation strategies and reporting on risks. This position is the key driver in ensuring the company’s credit program is in alignment with both its short and long-term strategic plan.

The ideal candidate will hold a University degree in Finance, Business or other related discipline and a minimum of seven year’s progressively responsible experience (at least five of which have been in a managerial role) in credit assessments and/or risk management. Experience with or exposure to credit export insurance would be an asset. The successful candidate will be a seasoned and experienced leader with strong commercial acumen and broad-based knowledge of credit, risk management and accounting principles, systems, controls and export trade. A CFA designation would be considered a strong asset for this role.
