Director of Business Development & Marketing (WR: 550)
We have partnered with Alberta’s preeminent business litigation advocacy firm to help them find a Director of Business Development & Marketing. Located in either Calgary or Edmonton, this Director will be a key member of the firm’s management team and will be a strategic driver of business development and marketing for the firm.
The Director of Business Development and Marketing will play an influential role within our client. They will work collaboratively with the firm’s partnership to plan and execute best-in-class business development and marketing strategies, positioning the firm for growth and client management, retention and development. This individual will develop an integrated marketing strategy and budget to support the tactical and strategic business and revenue goals for the firm. They will also be a leader of people, and will have the support of a team to execute these goals.
This role requires maturity, creativity, an ability to lead and influence, a hands-on approach, and a depth of experience. The Director must be able to accurately evaluate group marketing needs, recognize and develop best practices in the “new normal” that has emerged since the pandemic, and manage the expedient execution of programs.
We are seeking candidates will the following experiences and skills for this role:
- Minimum 10 years of business development and marketing experience, preferably in a professional services environment
- Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role with at least two direct reports
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or other relevant field
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- Track record of success in business development, having achieved quantifiable results
- Previous experience managing a significant marketing and/or business development budget
- Significant marketing expertise and methodology used in conjunction with business planning to achieve results that drive and support a marketing team
- A proficient understanding of professional services or consulting business models where revenues are based on fees and professional expertise
- Experience working with data analytics and metrics to inform marketing strategy
- Significant experience working with digital marketing channels
- Excellent written and oral presentation and communication skills which convey confidence and credibility
- Have an understanding of the corporate cultures in both Calgary and Edmonton, and preferably, an understanding of the legal markets specifically in both cities
