About AIMCo

We have partnered with the Alberta Investment Management Corp. (“AIMCo”), one of Canada’s largest and most diversified institutional investment fund managers, to help them add a Director, Tax Planning to the team. With over $130 billion of assets under management, AIMCo operates independently from the Government of Alberta, and the majority of its assets under management come from a diverse group of Alberta public sector pension plans. AIMCo’s returns benefit all Albertans through endowment funds and government accounts for healthcare, education, infrastructure and social programs.

AIMCo actively evaluates, assesses and optimizes risk to achieve superior performance for Albertans. Every employee is empowered to, and is actively accountable for, managing risk.

The Director, Tax Planning role

Reporting to the Vice President, Tax, the Director, Tax Planning will participate in all aspects of AIMCo’s tax planning function, including income, withholding, GST (VAT) and local taxes. This Director will play a key role in developing domestic and international investment structures and ensuring optimal tax arrangements are achieved. This Director will be primarily investment-facing and will have exposure to an incredible breadth of international transactions and investments.

Working as a trusted advisor, the Director will be a key resource to the Investment Management Team on a variety of transactions across the portfolio, responsible for identifying areas of tax risk and advising on appropriate mitigation strategies.
