Executive Director, Calgary Quest Children’s Society (WR: 549)
We are delighted to have partnered with the Calgary Quest Children’s Society (“CQCS”) to help them find their next Executive Director. CQCS is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of children, youth and young adults with developmental disabilities in Calgary. CQCS is comprised of Calgary Quest School, a designated special education private school for children and youth aged 6 to 18 years, as well as the newly formed Calgary Quest Resources, under which an expanding portfolio of services are housed, including The Centre for Opportunity, a community access program for young adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities aged 18-25 years.
CQCS is seeking a forward-thinking, strategic leader to join the organization as Executive Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will assume a key leadership position with CQCS, having overall responsibility for the management of the organization’s portfolio, including Calgary Quest School and Calgary Quest Resources.
There has never been a more exciting time to join CQCS. The Board of Directors developed a comprehensive Strategic Plan in 2019, which envisioned the continued growth and development of the Calgary Quest School and the development of a number of new programs under Calgary Quest Resources; the first of which is The Centre for Opportunity. The Executive Director will play a critical role in the continued growth of CQCS, operationalizing the Strategic Plan. A part of the Strategic Plan involves securing and funding development for a new facility for the organization of which, the Executive Director will play a key role.
The successful candidate will have the following experiences and skills:
- Post-secondary degree in Education, Social Work, Community Development, Business or a related field
- MBA or other relevant advanced degree is an asset
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in the education, human services, social services or social innovation sectors
- Significant leadership and professional experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of programming for vulnerable populations
- Mature level of management and operational experience
- Demonstrated financial management experience, including experience managing in a resource constrained environment
- Track record of success in fund development
- Demonstrated ability to build upon and execute an existing vision and strategic plan
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated experience reporting to and/or working closely with a Board of Directors
- Experience managing the operational risk of an organization
