Board Member – Fort Calgary (WR: 657)

Alberta, Calgary
Posted 2 weeks ago

We are proud to have partnered with the Fort Calgary Preservation Society (Fort Calgary), the not-for-profit organization dedicated to telling the historically layered and meaningful stories of the 40 acre site located where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. This site has long been called Mohkinsstsis by the Blackfoot, also Wîchîspa by the Nakoda, and Guts’ists’i by Tsuut’ina, and it is considered the birthplace of the City of Calgary.

Fort Calgary is a civic partner of the City of Calgary, who own the lands that make up this site. These lands are in the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 Nations in Southern Alberta, and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. This site is designated as a National Historic Site of Canada. Currently the site consists of an interpretive centre and the Deane House and Hunt House, two related landmarks whose history is intertwined with the Fort’s. It is a place of education, exchange, social gathering and more.

Fort Calgary is recruiting up to 7 Board Members in this upcoming search, and for a variety of functional skillsets and experiences.
