The Role

ATCO is seeking a collaborative, self-starting securities lawyer to join its legal team at its head office in Calgary. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, this lawyer will have the unique opportunity to be on the ground floor of the development of ATCO’s legal team. This is a broad in-house securities role, and the successful candidate will engage in complex corporate transactions as they arise, will assist with the preparation and review of continuous disclosure documents, and will help manage corporate governance across the ATCO Group of Companies, engaging and managing external counsel as necessary. The title of this role will be either Senior Legal Counsel or Legal Counsel, depending on the seniority of the successful candidate.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for team-oriented and self-starting securities lawyers with at least 6 years of post-call legal experience related to capital markets, M&A and corporate finance. The successful candidate will have excellent contract drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills and will have a track record of leading and executing on a variety of securities and M&A files.
