Manager, Financial Strategy – The Calgary Airport Authority (WR: 598)
Our client, The Calgary Airport Authority (the “Authority”) is a private, non-share capital, not-for-profit Corporation, incorporated under the Province of Alberta’s Regional Airports Authorities Act. The Authority is responsible for the management, operation and development of the Calgary International Airport (“YYC”) and Springbank Airport (“YBW”).
As the Authority builds out its Financial Planning & Analysis Team, they are seeking to add a Manager, Financial Strategy to the group. The Financial Planning & Analysis Team works collaboratively with the organization to deliver budgeting and forecasting for the Authority. The team works alongside business unit owners to develop valuable reporting and innovative data visualizations that provide detailed analysis and insights to support quality decision making. As critical players in the development of strategies and innovation to support business growth, this team of collaborative self-starters possesses the ability to translate data into compelling stories that inform, influence and guide organizational direction.
Working as a strategic resource to support the Authority, the Manager, Financial Strategy will act as the primary financial and analytical business partner for the Strategy and Planning business units. Sitting within the Strategy and Planning business units day-to-day while reporting administratively to the General Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Manager, Financial Strategy will have ownership of the Long-Range Financial Plan (LRP) including modelling of regular updates, sensitivity analysis, and any ad-hoc scenarios to support major business decisions.
Partnering with the business unit leaders, the successful candidate will support the development of new business cases including the modelling of business terms and valuation of deals for Land Development, Cost Sustainment and Process Improvement at YYC along with financial modelling to support new airlines and routes through Air Service Development. The Manager, Financial Strategy will also hold responsibility for the budget and forecasting of salaries & benefits and will support the General Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis with high sensitivity business cases.
The successful candidate will hold an undergraduate degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; a minimum of five years’ experience building and maintaining complex financial models; and business case development experience.
