Our client, the ASC enforces Alberta securities laws by investigating and prosecuting breaches of those laws with a view to stopping current misconduct and preventing future misconduct. As a Senior Litigation Counsel you are responsible for the oversight and preparation of litigation case files which may be making recommendations on whether further evidence is required, whether the matter is important and must be prioritized within the department, or whether the file should be closed, among other like opinions and conclusions. Responsibilities also include preparing and conducting hearing, interim applications and chambers application before the Court of Queen’s Bench and working with investigators, evidence analysts and other litigation counsel to prepare for and conduct hearings and appeals.
Critical to this position are your superb business litigation or prosecutorial experience and proven ability to run trials, lead witnesses, cross-examine effectively and produce evidence that supports winning legal arguments, and to produce such arguments and deliver them persuasively.
