Pekarsky & Co has partnered with Tourism Calgary, the official destination marketing organization for Calgary, to help them find individuals interested in serving in a volunteer capacity on Tourism Calgary’s Board or on one of the two advisory committees that guide the Board of Tourism Calgary and the City of Calgary:
Tourism Calgary Board of Directors
Tourism Calgary is the official destination marketing organization for Calgary with the vision of making Calgary ultimate hosts and the ultimate host city. Tourism Calgary markets the city locally, nationally and internationally and advocates for its ongoing development as a destination. The organization hosts and attracts visitors, conferences, sport and cultural events and activates the city by fostering the growth of shareable, memorable experiences. Calgary’s tourism industry contributes approximately $2.5 billion in visitor spending by over 7.3 million overnight visitors annually.
Tourism Calgary is seeking individuals interested in serving as a general member director on the Tourism Calgary board in 2021 or subsequent years. This year, Tourism Calgary is seeking recognized leaders with previous not-for-profit Board experience, who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Human Resources Leadership
- Audit & Finance
- Government Relations
- Digital Marketing

Calgary Sports & Major Events Committee
The Calgary Sport & Major Event (CSME) committee’s role is to provide strategic direction, advice, and due diligence to the Tourism Calgary board and management in the proactive process of evaluating and attracting major sports and culture events for the City of Calgary. Based on event selection priorities and criteria developed by Tourism Calgary, committee members will help to evaluate and recommend bid programs and events for potential investment.
Members will be expected to contribute through key advocacy and communication channels within the community; promote and support the initiatives of the CSME.
CSME is an advisory committee to both The City of Calgary and the Board of Tourism Calgary.
CSME is currently seeking individuals interested in becoming a general committee member of CSME. This year, CSME is seeking recognized leaders with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- cultural sector and creative industry governance
- private sector leadership
- stakeholder and government relations

Meetings & Conventions Advisory Committee
The Meetings & Conventions Advisory Committee (MCAC) is a newly created advisory committee to the Board of Tourism Calgary, commencing in January 2021. The vision for MCAC is to attract major meetings and conventions to Calgary and the Bow Valley corridor to generate incremental economic, educational and social benefits for the broader communities. Success will be possible through working together on a unified strategy.
MCAC is seeking individuals interested in becoming a general committee member of MCAC. MCAC is seeking recognized leaders with previous not-for-profit Board experience, who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- marketing and sponsorship
- innovative technology applications
- major event planning and logistics
