The YMCA, serving the community 364 days a year, presently operates and oversees seven different health and wellness facilities across Calgary, is home to over 1200 volunteers, and handles over 2 million visits each year. We’ve partnered with the YMCA in a search for new Board Directors, each member serving a three-year term. The Board plays a governance role in supporting the strategic vision of YMCA Calgary. As volunteers, Board Directors commit approximately five to ten hours per month to Board-related activities, including preparation for and participation in Board and Committee meetings and participation in branch community events. The YMCA seeks to develop a Board whose members possess and demonstrate a diverse combination of personal attributes, expertise, social capital, professional competencies and occupational background. Previous Board experience in the public or not-for-profit sector is desired for the role, as is prior experience in strategic planning, governance, capital asset management, information technology and investment management. Mark’s and FGL are both subsidiaries of Canadian Tire, and are headquartered in Calgary. This is a unique opportunity for a junior associate to work closely alongside the marketing team at Mark’s and FGL and make an impact on the growth and success of the business.
The successful candidate will have 2-5 years of corporate private practice experience, and will be particularly strong at drafting. The successful candidate will uniquely will have the opportunity to assist the companies with a broad range of marketing initiatives - everything from working on contracts for the companies’ Instagram influencers and assisting with Olympic promotions and other contests and promotions, to negotiating contracts with external vendors.
